A Prayer by a Mustard Bush

source

based on Mark 4:26-34

Faithful God, sometimes we’re frustrated by the meagerness of our actions. Any positive change that we seek to make for ourselves, for others, or for the world seems so insignificant compared to the size of the suffering around and within us.

At best, we can hope that the ways we partner with you for the in-breaking of your realm will plant a seed, and that seed will eventually grow into something in which others may nest and find respite.

Whether we ourselves see the growth is not promised, but the overall promise that it happens will sustain us.

Inspire us forward, we pray, and may we be as generous with the seeds we plant as you are.

Amen.
