A Prayer at Midnight

source

based on Acts 16:16-34

Faithful God, the time is engulfed in shadows.

Our hands and feet feel tied down by our own helplessness and hopelessness.

The wounds and grief of the world run so deep and wide that we cannot bring ourselves to sing our hymns and spiritual songs.

We fall down trembling at this late hour, praying for mercy and relief for ourselves and for our world.

Tend to our feelings of brokenness, so we may be instruments of your peace to tend to what is broken elsewhere.

Amen.
