A Prayer from a Mountain Dwelling

based on Mark 9:2-9

Faithful God, I really like it here.

In my little hut up on high, I’m warm and safe.

This is my spot for thinking wonderful things about what I’ve seen of you.

There’s nothing here to challenge or expand or add to those thoughts.

And yet I have a sense that you ask more of me, and that makes me uncomfortable.

Might you truly be elsewhere than just on this summit? Maybe I’ll find out one day.

For now, I’ll listen for you, just as you told me to do, right here.

Although I do wonder if that wasn’t what you meant.

Amen.
