March 2026 Pop Culture Roundup

Books

  • Love Without Limits by Jacqueline A. Bussie – An exploration of the radical love of God and what it looks like in practical ways. I especially appreciated the stories that she shared.
  • No Gods for Drowning by Hailey Piper – A mystery involving a town facing disaster and wishing for the gods who seemingly left them to return and help. I really enjoyed this.
  • Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman – In his follow-up to Four Thousand Weeks, Burkeman shares brief practices and snippets of wisdom for not holding on so tight to our felt need to push ourselves so hard.
  • I’m Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom by Jason Pargin – The story of a road trip to transport a mysterious box is also a story of how the internet shapes and distorts narratives.

Movies

  • Rental Family – Brendan Fraser plays a struggling actor in Japan who joins a company that stages family life experiences for clients, and ends up learning about and finding human connection himself. I found it very heartwarming.
  • Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die – A man from the future travels back to prevent an AI apocalypse. It’s unhinged, well done satirical commentary.
  • Is This Thing On? – Will Arnett plays a middle-aged man going through a divorce and finding new meaning through stand-up comedy. It has some wonderful exploration on the complexity of relationships.

TV Shows

  • School Spirits – Season 3 featured the ghosts facing what happens if the place they haunt is destroyed, while characters fess up to and atone for their pasts. This show continues to feature strong performances and stories.
  • Paradise – After a major global catastrophe, life in a massive underground bunker starts to come unraveled. Sterling K. Brown is amazing in the lead role.

Albums

Okay. I’m going through something where I am binging a lot of albums these days. Most of them are some subgenre of metal, which I’ve always liked but right now I really, really like, as in “can’t get enough, almost constantly listening to it” like. I’ll write about what I think might be going on with this, but in the meantime I need an easier way to share what I’m listening to. So instead of doing the little descriptions like in the above sections, you just get album titles because right now there are JUST. SO. MANY.
