It’s been another eventful writing year for me.
The biggest development was the publication of my 8th book, The Unintentional Interim: Ministry in Times of Transition. I had an inkling that the subject matter would resonate with many pastors and church leaders, and I’ve collected enough anecdotal evidence over the course of the year to show that this has been the case.
The book sold out at the two booths at which it was available at this summer’s UCC General Synod, and garnered a lot of interest at several other events at which I spoke this year. I’m not yet privy to a lot of sales data, but I am confident that this has been one of the most successful books that I have written. It has me feeling quite affirmed in my craft.
In the midst of that release and promotion, I worked on the manuscript for the follow-up to my novel Mirrobius. I’ll have much more to say about this starting in January, but given the amount of time that I spent this year on this next project, it warranted a mention in this post. Stay tuned for more soon!
And finally, here are my favorite blog posts that I wrote this year:
- A Vocational Vision, 20 Years Developed
- With Boredom Comes Opportunity
- Learning How to Do Nothing
- What Pastoral Search Committees Can Learn from Conclave
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Tarshish
Happy New Year, and thanks for reading in 2025.
