Summer Reading 2025

A new season approaches, one of supposedly lighter schedules and vacation plans. And for me, at least, it also means a need for a new reading list. I enjoyed my winter/spring list, and now it’s time to make another.

This summer will be unique, as I begin a two-month sabbatical in August. I’ll have more to say about that before long, but it will have implications for my reading plans. So as a result, I’ll end up having 2 different reading lists over the next few months.

I like to focus on novels during summer, and I think that given the special circumstances of this particular year, that seems extra appropriate. So here’s what I’m planning to read at least between now and August:

  • Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas
  • None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell
  • Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
  • The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley
  • Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
  • The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig

It’s a relatively shorter list given what I’m anticipating as the season goes on.

What are you planning to read this summer?

If you need some suggestions, try these.
