I last provided an update about my next nonfiction book, The Unintentional Interim, all the way back in June.
If this is your first time hearing about it, this book will be about pastors who find themselves in a ministry situation going through a higher amount of transition than anticipated, thus becoming the de facto interim minister. The kicker is that there’s so much transition within and beyond most churches nowadays that we’re all doing interim ministry now.
Anyway, when I last provided an update, I had just completed copyedits, which entailed reviewing line-by-line corrections and questions. It was surprisingly simple and painless compared to my previous experiences with this step, and I was finished in a few hours.
In the meantime, I’m in the midst of yet another step in the process. Pilgrim sent me a proof of the final typeset manuscript, and so now I’m doing one last read-through to catch lingering typos and formatting issues. I have until January to do so, but I should be finished by sometime in December at the latest.
I thought that this update would include a cover reveal. I can say that I have seen the cover concept, but it isn’t ready for public consumption yet. The picture above provides a bit of a clue, at least.
Hopefully, the next update will not only include the cover, but some semblance of a release date as well. The general aim for a release is sometime close to the UCC’s General Synod, which is next July.
In the meantime, can I recommend a few of my other books? The first is my sci-fi novel Mirrobius, which has been out since September. The other is my Advent anti-devotional Four Weeks, since that season is almost here.
The next update will be sometime next year. I look forward to having more news to share.
